Brooke lives in the DC metro area and has been sewing, knitting, and crocheting for about 35 years. She has a wide range of experience in the textile arts, from spinning and weaving to clothing construction and quilting. If it has to do with fabric or yarn, she has probably tried it at some point!

Currently her main interests are knitting wearable art, creating quilts for everyone from the family pets on up, and inventing personalized gifts. However, her interests are forever cycling and expanding and are subject to change with any new inspirations that cross her path.

Joe Kitty Threads was formed to provide an answer to all the people who asked “Where can I get one!?” when spying the custom made gifts and goodies she gave out to friends and family. After many years of this question, she decided to stop being so selfish and start making fun handmade items for others too.

As Brooke researched various small scale companies and crafting operations, she started to realize that many were named after the founders’ children. As her only child was of the four-legged furry type, she joked with her friends that she was going to name her endeavor likewise, Joe Kitty. The name stuck.

Sadly, the cat himself, Joe Kitty, passed away at only seven years of age in July 2007. But his name lives on in all of the items and gifts she makes for others.
